Our average lesson is about two hours long; this allows for some talk time and a short land lesson, before getting into the water and catching some waves. Most people will be fully satisfied (and exhausted) after their surf session.

The Maui surf lessons in Kihei are held close to shore in a sheltered bay. The waves break a short distance offshore over a gently sloping reef. This makes the waves predictable and relatively gentle. (These locations do not have shore-break waves, and are better for beginners). The students will not need to paddle too far from shore to get their rides.
Only minimal paddling is required. The water depth varies from knee-deep to chest-deep. there are deep water sections in the channels, so all surf participants must be able to swim (no exceptions). Parents and spectators can stay onshore and can get some great views photos of the action. For safety reasons, non-surfers should not enter the water at the surfing location.

We do safety talks, theory, and more water time. 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. each day. We provide the gear including lycra rash guard shirt to wear. Students will be placed in small groups according to their weight and experience level. Students can bring their own reef shoes, towels, and sunscreen.
